Google Wave, Future of Computer?

Not long ago, Google launched it's new operating system that called as Google Chrome. And now, at the end of September that google has another kind of service which called as Google Wave. What is it and why is it matters? As personal, I really don't know what Google Wave is, till I read many of articles. But as long as I read, I have a newbie opinion about this new service from Google.

Google wave is such a "a personal communication and collaboration tool" It is a web-based service, computing platform, and communications protocol designed to merge e-mail, instant messaging, wikis, and social networking. It has a strong collaborative and real-time focus supported by extensions that can provide, for example, spelling/grammar checking, automated translation among 40 languages, and numerous other extensions, as Wikipedia said.

Not really far, Mashable also said about Google wave, "Google Wave is a real-time communication platform. It combines aspects of email, instant messaging, wikis, web chat, social networking, and project management to build one elegant, in-browser communication client. You can bring a group of friends or business partners together to discuss how your day has been or share files."

But for me, I only understand that it will make my computer world being one, :D is right? With all application, information, and all internet services are in one window, it make anything just in one.

Okey, this is just an introduction. But if you want more about this new service of Google, you may like the articles written by Mashable. That's a really important article with fun interface.

You may know a few features inside Google Wave, such as Mashable said:

- Real-time: In most instances, you can see what someone else is typing, character-by-character.

- Embeddability: Waves can be embedded on any blog or website.

- Applications and Extensions: Just like a Facebook (Facebook) application or an iGoogle gadget, developers can build their own apps within waves. They can be anything from bots to complex real-time games.

- Wiki functionality: Anything written within a Google Wave can be edited by anyone else, because all conversations within the platform are shared. Thus, you can correct information, append information, or add your own commentary within a developing conversation.

- Open source: The Google Wave code will be open source, to foster innovation and adoption amongst developers.

- Playback: You can playback any part of the wave to see what was said.

- Natural language: Google Wave can autocorrect your spelling, even going as far as knowing the difference between similar words, like “been” and “bean.” It can also auto-translate on-the-fly.

- Drag-and-drop file sharing: No attachments; just drag your file and drop it inside Google Wave and everyone will have access.

While these are only a few of the many features of Google Wave, it’s easy to see why people are extremely excited.

At last, I quote what Google said, about his new service:

A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.

A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.

I just wonder, it will be the new era of world computing, as we don't need any except internet? A future of world computing is begin. Will yo wave?
